▶ 47.8MThe 47 million view burger
On October 19, TikTok creator @ryu_da_sigma posted 20 seconds of himself wrapping McDonald's burgers at a desk, fast enough that his hands blur. Over the footage sits a single line: While they are out partying btw. Eleven days later the video had 47.8 million views, 6.2 million likes and 1.7 million shares.
Nothing in the clip is staged like a stunt. Two water bottles, a wooden desk, a few burgers, a McDonald's T-shirt. That is the point. The “While they're out partying” TikTok trend takes a skill nobody would film and frames it as the grind that happens while everyone else is out having fun.
What the trend actually is
The format has three parts, and every viral version we looked at follows them:
- The caption is the whole script. “While they're out partying btw.” No voiceover, no explanation.
- The skill is deliberately unglamorous. Wrapping burgers, throwing trash bags, running ladder drills in a video game.
- The effort is dead serious. The joke only lands because the person commits completely.
That gap between how small the task is and how seriously it is treated is what makes people share it. You can see it in the numbers: the burger video's share count is roughly one share for every 29 views, a sign that a lot of viewers sent it straight to someone else.
Where it started
The trend is older than its October spike. Know Your Meme lists a squat video by @bellaa.1e from December 14, 2025 as the earliest known example, while noting that the true origin is unclear. That video now sits at about 6 million views.
On New Year's Day 2026, @itsjus_parker, wearing a fast food uniform, posted himself hurling trash bags into a dumpster at night under the caption “While they're partying.” It climbed to nearly 24 million views.
Why it exploded again in October
In mid-October the trend came back with new skills. On October 13, @aleexera posted Roblox soccer drills, a character running ladder footwork and practicing shots, and passed 12 million views. Six days later came the burger video.
Here is the detail most recaps miss: the two biggest October videos use the exact same sound, “original sound – blk.films.” The earlier hits used different audio. In October the caption stayed the same and creators also started sharing one beat, which made the format even easier to copy and easier for viewers to recognize in a second.
This is our reading of the data, not an official TikTok explanation: when a caption and a sound travel together, a trend becomes a template. Anyone can drop their own footage into it in a few minutes.
How to make your own version
If you want to try the “While they're out partying btw” trend, keep it as simple as the originals:
Study the originals frame by frame
The fastest way to learn a format is to watch the hits slowly. You can save any of the videos above with our TikTok video downloader, without a watermark, and step through them frame by frame to see exactly how long each shot lasts and where the caption sits. Want the sound on its own? Run the link through TikTok to MP3.
The takeaway
The “While they're out partying” trend works because it costs nothing to make and says something everyone understands: the unglamorous work is the flex. One caption, one honest skill, one shared sound. That is the whole recipe, and 47 million people watched it work.
